Yes, there is a psychology of anonymity and very interesting studies about human expression if assured of being anonymous or not that speak to the pressure to conform or behave according to social convention.

Also, like acting, anonymities are able to play out multiple roles or sides to their personality and express unfetted threads of arguments they may be having with themselves or opinions they are unsure of but still want to enter into a debate about and receive feedback from others.

I'm not sure why it bugs bloggers so much that people are "hiding behind" their anonymity when the act of blogging itself assures some level of social buffer in their public expression as well. On a blog, you can be sitting at home in your dirty undies shouting out your unfetterred opinions, relating intimiate details about yourself and still keep an assured physical distance and buffer from those reading it. Blogging is its own form of anonymity.

And then there is the entire realm of avatars and pseudonyms -- take the name Diablo Cody for example. What does a fictitious identity mean for a blogger? Anonymity?

In the 1950s there used to be a lot of discussion about the bificated individual - it was a decade of dual personalities. Most often, it was discussed in terms of the "public self" and the "private self" and Richard M. Nixon was a manifestation of the person who could not keep the "two-selves" in balance -- his private personae destroyed the public man.

The internet and blogging has brought back the bificated individual in a huge way.

Yup, that's interesting to me here, and on MNSpeak, and on my blog, and on your blog, and just about any blog -- people are so brave hiding behind that "anonymous" but the minute the time comes to own up to the criticism -- poof, the bravery vanishes. I tend to take anonymous criticism not only with a grain of salt but with an enormous Minnesota-style salt lick with a giant deer licking at it.

Of course, it IS the point that the women don't have a script and are shooting a film without one but the correlations is simply being made to how often amateurs think all that it takes is to make a movie is shoot it.

To state, perhaps the obvious, or point out the conflict point is not a criticism of the episode, merely a reinforcement of the underlying plot which is what everybody does in these comments anyway.

It's interesting to me how there are so many people willing to critique this episode (and project) yet so few willing to post their actual names. Forgive me if I take some of the criticisms (and veiled insults) with a grain of salt.

While I will not speak for the creators of CW, I have a couple of points that I need to make or my head will possibly explode. I apologize if some of you cannot understand that not writing an actual script for the short film IS part of the actual script. Besides, if we did sit down and spend a week or two of our very busy lives writing one up, it probably wouldn't be good enough for some of you anyway...so, lose/lose. Also, before going off on a certain part of the episode, you might want to watch some of the previous ones so you don't look like a moron. Sometimes these story lines and plots are an actual continuation of an earlier episode...hard to believe about a daily series, but true. If you think you've forgotten something, here's a tip - go back and check.

I actually had completely forgotten the goose pooping, dog attack, puddle, knockdown, and so forth.

(But I did remember that moment of great humor when the camera crashed into the girls. See how laughter sticks to the brain?)

That's the problem with this being so non-linear (and I ain't talkin' editing). It's difficult to hang on to these details when so many other plotlines separate them.

I think you need to look at all the details. She is a little frazzled and not behaving very rationally. Her car didn't start. She got pooped on by a goose. She got attacked by an invisible dog and stepped in an invisible puddle. She tripped and hurt herself and another woman. She got yelled at by that woman. She's late to a date and all messed up. I just don't think she's thinking clearly at that point.
